It’s the village of Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye, our neighbours and friends in Isère ( à 30 min from the Palais idéal du facteur Cheval), which proudly carried the colours of’Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes to the competition and the television mission “Le Village Préféré des Français”, hosted by Stéphane Bern and organised by France Télévisions and which won !!!
Rising between the earth and the sky in the rolling Chambaran countryside and offering superb views of the Vercors massif, Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye is a delight for heritage enthusiasts. The façades of the houses, the winding lanes, the old covered market, the colourful roofs, the large mansions contrasting with the half-timbered houses offer a fantastic journey back to the Middle Ages. At the top of the hill, as if watching over the village, the abbey church, the Gothic jewel of the region, bears witness to the site’s past grandeur through its thousand-year-old history.
